Directed Named CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Award Honoree for Viper SmartKey
Vista, CA (January 7, 2014) – Viper today announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for its Viper SmartKey.
Viper has taken the company's award-winning Passive Keyless Entry idea and realized the next evolution with the SmartKey. Now a driver can automatically lock and unlock car doors simply by having a smartphone with the app on their person.
"Our engineers have worked hard to raise the bar and continue to devise ways that enhance the user experience," said John Durbin, Director of Project Management for SmartStart. "Consumers can use the Viper SmartKey which uses Bluetooth to communicate with the vehicle and let their phone do the talking for them.”
Now instead of a separate device that would send and receive signals, the driver's phone would communicate wirelessly with the car to lock and unlock the doors whenever within range.
The Viper SmartKey will be displayed in The Venetian at the 2014 International CES, which runs January 7-10, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled: The Official Media Event of the International CES from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 5 in South Seas Ballroom C at Mandalay Bay. Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering honoree products are also featured on CESweb.org/Innovations.
