This simple vision, has driven Directed employees to lead innovative designs and solutions for over 30 years. It is shocking how far that underlying fundamental vision has taken us over the years. Thirty years ago, "State of the art" was a keypad you placed inside your car, that you entered a "secret code" in order to secure your vehicle.

Today, Directed's SmartStart is the new state of the art, giving consumers something they have dreamed of for years, ultimate control of their vehicle from virtually anywhere around the world. From checking the status of their vehicle, to sharing the vehicle’s location on Facebook, Directed provides security and control for vehicles that is cutting edge and in tune with the other aspects of new and integral technology in our lives.

Directed provides services and products to Octo Telematics, the leading insurance telematics provider in Europe, to develop telematics services for the U.S. and Canadian vehicle insurance markets. Both Octo Telematics and Directed believe significant opportunities exist for telematics products, which is evidenced by insurance companies such as Liberty Mutual and Nationwide offering telematics-based services as well as increased interest by federal and state agencies.

Telematics is poised to increase opportunities for insurance companies and drivers through reduced risk, value-added services such as automatic crash response and accident damage management, safe driver rewards, and a cleaner environment by incentivizing responsible driving behaviors.
